If you’re hosting, set thanksgiving up buffet style instead of setting the food at the table. This will make it less convenient for you to get seconds.
Remember portion control! It’s okay to indulge on Thanksgiving and Christmas but that doesn’t give you an excuse to have 3 pieces of pie and 3 servings of mash potatoes. If you want to use your portion control containers, make your plate separately in the kitchen.

Sugar free. The most exciting part for me is the ice cream and apple pie! I might even convince my mom to make her apple crisp from the apples falling from our tree out back! Give away left overs! Go to the store and buy some cheap Tupperware so you can send your family and friends home with left overs! Post thanksgiving turkey sandwiches is something to look forward to though, so keep some for yourself!
Don’t leave the food out. When dinner is over, pack it up right away! Guests can still mingle and sip wine but the food doesn’t need to be sitting in front of everyone. I would definitely keep picking at the food on my plate or adding more mash potatoes.. lets avoid this!
If you host thanksgiving potluck style, have a designated area of the house for desserts that isn’t in a direct walkway. A corner of the kitchen or living room would help you avoid being tempted to walk buy and snag a piece of fudge.
