Every girl should read this book.
Every chapter might not directly relate to you or your life, but the perspective shift this book provided me was unlike any other. Master Your Mean Girl definitely shifted my top 10 books and this one is at #1.
This book is for any age ( I just sent it to my 15 year old sister), any career level, any gender, religion, or sexuality.
I feel like years ago, I used to be cold. Rough. or tough even (on the inside). I would roll my eyes at sappy sentimental moments and feel highly awkward when a boy would try and confess his love for me, or even just pay me a compliment.
Now, I soak that shit up. I thank personal development books like these for softening my soul up a bit.
I mention this because although she says she doesn't want a ton of fluff or whoohaa (sappy self love chatter) there is a bit of that within the book. But honestly, how can you help someone master their inner thoughts if you didn't have some 'love thy self' tips to some degree. If you're someone that relates to how I use to be, you may roll your eyes at some of the fluff regarding flexing your self love muscle and such.
BUT there are still a TON of lessons within each chapter and she keeps the fluff on a lower level then most other books I've read. I know for a fact that whatever level you're on within the sappy-o-meter you will find this book benefits you in more than one area of your life.
She begins the book talking about her rock bottom. Where she's been, how she got there, and how she pulled herself out. *Credibility
Somehow, she wrote the tone in this book to be 90% angelic 10% tough love and 100% relatable no matter who you are or what your background is.
From dealing with parenting, fitness & nutrition, negative situations, self esteem issues, career choices, mentality, past heartbreaks and so much more.
I closed the last chapter of this book feeling lighter. She taught me how to figure out the reason I resented sentimental moments, bless and release that tension and move forward.
Most of all, this book made me realize that the inner thoughts I'm having are something everyone deals with. I am one that gets stuck in my head a lot. I'm always thinking (or overthinking) about something.. ALWAYS. My brain never shuts off. It's comforting to know that the negative thoughts I have are my ego and I can control how she treats me. The doubts and negativity are already decreasing and the mental battle to stay focused and positive is becoming so much easier.
In summery, this book really did help me move one step closer to mastering my inner mean girl and I'm excited to continue to put into practice the tips, tricks and exercises she provided in every aspect of my life.
