You should ALWAYS eat breakfast. It should be a no matter what. No matter if you’re rushing out the door. No matter if you’re going to the gym early before work. No matter if breakfast makes you feel nauseous in the morning (mom). No matter what you cannot skip breakfast! Here’s why:
1) If you skip breakfast and go straight to lunch, when’s the last time you’ve eaten? Typically the answer to that question is yesterday’s dinner. This means you ate around 6:00-730 pm and then probably went to bed somewhere between 9-11pm. Say you eat lunch at 12 the next day… that 18 hours since you last ate. That means your body is in starvation mode. Your metabolism hasn’t been running for a sold 18 hours. If you do this every day, you’re only eating twice a day, in a 6 hour period.
This means it's possible that when you do eat, your body is clinging onto all the fat it can in preparation for that 18 hour fast. It stores that fat and makes it near impossible for you to get rid of it. This is why its essential to not only eat breakfast, but little snacks throughout the day so your metabolism is constantly going.
2) Breakfast is my largest meal of the day. Why? Because I need energy to get me through all my daily activities. Remember to think of food as energy. Do you need a lot of energy at 6 pm? Not as much, this is why dinner is the smallest meal of the day. If you skip breakfast your body is running off fumes. A large breakfast allows you to utilize those calories (energy) all throughout the day!
