Often, we get so wrapped up in wanting to see weight loss and reach our goals we forget what we're actually trying to do for our bodies.
Pushing our bodies to it's limit day after day in grueling exercises may help you lose the weight, but it may not bring you to the type of wellness that improves your energy levels, cognitive abilities, mobility and range of motion.. etc.
During our fitness journey, no matter what level we start out at, we need to have a well rounded variety of exercises we partake in. For many, this is really hard to plan, organize and implement with a simple gym membership.
Here are a few key realms your fitness program should encompass to really aid in overall wellness:
High Intensity Cardio
Dynamic and Static stretching
You could even plan these realms out to days of the week (In various orders):
1) Moderate intensity cardio
2) Strength based
4) Range of motion and mobility
5) Core and dynamic strength
6) Low impact flexibility and flow
7) Active recovery rest day
All access to all of these realms is hard to fathom. The general population walks into the gym and rides the elliptical for 30 minutes each day then throws some weight around with high hopes to see amazing weight loss results. The hard truth to this is there is no variety, there is no strategic game plan and weight loss is hard to come by this way.
