The community I have been so lucky to be apart of has brought me to a new found level of happiness, positivity, motivation and has taught me what a 'Go Getter' attitude is all about. I've had my fitness transformation time and time again. I have gone through series of too skinny, extra weight, to -- too muscular or not strong enough and back, round and round again. Like many, it depended upon the season. Now that I have got my fitness on a track that is progressive but consistent, I have found transformations within myself.
I want to introduce you to PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT. I have never heard of this phrase before 8 months ago; or if I had I casually dismissed it, I don't even think it had a place in my subconscious. No matter what you think about personal development, what you think it means or how much you think you don't need it or it wont help you -- hear me out.
-Are you happy as a clam, experiencing all the ventures you have ever dreamt?
-But do you still have fears?
-Are you living with the man of your dreams and loving your job?
-But have you deep belly laughed in a while?
-Are you working a job you hate?
-Are you spending hours upon hours a day watching netflix?
-Are you feeling unmotivated or tired all the time?
-Do you worry what other people think?
-Are you enjoying life every day?
-Do you wake up excited for the day every day?
-Are you sleeping okay at night?
-Do you think your dreams are far fetched? Too far out of reach?
Many of you would check yes on at least one of these, I know I would. Life throws curve balls. Sometimes it doesn't even through a fast one your way; sometimes it's slow, grueling and feels like an 11 inning game. If you checked any of these, heck, if you're a breathing human you can benefit from personal development.
-Could you be happier? Not just content, but truly more happy?
-Could you be more successful? In reaching your goals, financially, emotionally, physically?
-Could you be in better shape?
-Could you waste less time? Can you be more productive?
-Could you care less about what others think?
-Could you benefit from a little more fire and motivation?
-Could you use more positivity in your life? Could you kick some of those negative thoughts to the curb?
-Could you treat yourself better? Could you have more positive self talk?
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT. What does this mean? I'm going to try and be creative and come up with my own definition, then I'll google it and paste it after my own..
Personal development (Verb): The act of physically, mentally, and emotionally seeking to improve yourself to accomplish a more successful, fulfilling, motivated life. Seeking to increase your standard of living through changing your mental state in order to act on set goals and dreams.
Here's the google:
Personal development is a lifelong process. It's a way for people to assess their skills and qualities, consider their aims in life and set goals in order to realize and maximize their potential.
I have been practicing personal development through Audible. I highly encourage everyone to find their medium and practice it for 30 minutes a day. I listen on my phone while I take Zoe on her morning walks. I can't tell you how much my mindset has shifted. There's a weird feeling in my heart, a drive in my gut that I've never felt before. It's a feeling I can't describe but can sort of explain as "WHY THE HELL NOT ME?!" It's kind of like the feeling of eustress, like my gut is telling me to get up, work my ass off, stay productive because it's going to be worth it. WOW, my gut is talking to me now... I must be crazy. But wait. Not only is my gut now talking to me, but my mind has shifted to mock the feeling my gut is giving me. "I AM GOOD ENOUGH. I CAN DO THIS. WHY THE HELL NOT ME?!" Self doubt is the biggest barrier you can build yourself. No, you know what, you're not going to reach your dreams because you don't think you can reach your dreams. Since you don't think you can reach your dreams you wont work for them. You wont work for them because you're not motivated by the success you are aiming to accomplish because you don't even believe yourself that its accomplishable. Building a brick wall in the way of your own path is self destructive. It's not setting yourself up for failure, it's setting yourself up to stay stationary. If you're not moving forward you're staying where you're at. And you're staying where you're at because you've build this huge brick wall that you can't get around unless you create a new path or bust through it with a mind set that tells you YOU CAN. YOU ARE CAPABLE.
